Beavers add two more

MSU signs Parrone, Heavenor to letters of intent

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University volleyball head coach Travis Ward announced the Beavers have signed two more student-athletes to Institutional Letters for Intent for the upcoming season.

Alexandra Parrone and Ashley Heavenor have both signed to join Minot State in the fall.

Parrone is a 5-foot-11 setter from Peoria, Ariz., who will add size and depth to the Beavers setter position. Parrone was a member of the Xavier College Preparatory Sand Volleyball State Championship team. She also played club volleyball for AZ Desert Sky 18 Synergy.

“We think Alex is physically the right setter to play in the Northern Sun,” said Ward. “She is an exceptional student and athlete and is a competitor. She definitely moves our program in the right direction.”

Heavenor is a highly decorated prep athlete from Sir Winston Churchill High School in Calgary, Alberta. The 5-foot-7 native of Cochrane, Alberta was also a member of the U17 Canada West team that earned a Provincial Silver Medal in 2011. Heavenor can play a variety of positions, but will compete for the Beavers libero position immediately.

“Ashley is exactly the kind of kid you want to coach every day. She has a very high volleyball IQ coming in as a true freshman. We expect her to compete for playing time right away,” Ward said. “Her skills and IQ indicate she will have an impressive career in the NSIC.”

Minot State will begin play in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this fall.
