MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University athletics is planning a full slate of promotions to accompany the final weekend of men's and women's basketball this weekend at the MSU Dome.
The Beavers play host to the University of Sioux Falls both Friday and Saturday nights at the Dome. MSU's women's team kicks off the weekend with a 5:30 p.m. matchup with the Cougars on Friday. The men follow at 7:30 p.m. Saturday has the women's teams facing off at 4 p.m. with the men's teams in the weekend double-header finale at 6 p.m.
“We are excited to offer a number of promotional activities during our final home basketball weekend,” said MSU Director of Marketing and Promotions Jake Carstensen. “Along with the entertainment and vendor area on the north end of the Dome floor, we look forward to a weekend full of giveaways, tributes and great college basketball against a future Northern Sun opponent on the court.”
The weekend's festivities begin off campus Friday at the Minot State University Athletic Department Luncheon Series will return to Seven's Restaurant in the Vegas Motel beginning at noon. Scheduled to address the crowd is MSU head coaches
Sheila Green Gerding, women's basketball; Peter Stewart, men's basketball; and
Stu Melby, men's and women's track & field. Also in attendance will be
Samantha Gilbert and
Janelle Wong from the women's basketball program,
Jonas Pollard from the men's basketball team and Allie Helterbran and Josh Sandy from the track & field program.
Minot State will honor local service men and women with a Military Appreciation Night along with the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Night on Friday. Both events are sponsored by the Minot Convention and Visitors Bureau. Members of the military and their families receive free entry to the contests.
On Saturday, MSU will honor its seniors as it has partnered again with the Minot CVB for Senior Night. The Beavers will also introduce their Athletic Director Academic Achievement Award winners. MSU will hand out free “My Future U” T-Shirts to children and there will be an autograph session following the men's game at approximately 7:45 p.m. at the Dome.
