MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University officials announced the signing of two student-athletes to join the men's and women's track & field teams in 2013.
Catie LeDesma of Chula Vista, Calif. and Tyler Bates of Watford City, N.D. have each signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Minot State.
LeDesma will compete in both track & field and cross country while Bates will compete in just track & field.
The Beaver cross country and track & field programs have now signed five student-athletes in the 2013 recruiting class.
Women
California (1)
Catie LeDesma, Fr., 5-6, Cross Country/Track & Field, Chula Vista, Calif. (Otay Ranch High School)
LeDesma competed in both cross country and track & field at Otay Ranch High School. She led the Mustangs in several events including the 1,500 meters. She recorded a personal best time of 4 minutes 56 seconds during her senior season.
Men
North Dakota (1)
Tyler Bates, Fr., 6-4, Track & Field, Watford City, N.D. (Watford City High School)
Bates will come to Minot State as one of the most decorated track & field athletes from Watford City High. He is a five-time North Dakota State Championship Participant. During those five trips to state, Bates has placed eight times entering his senior season.Bates also played football, basketball and baseball.
