Four Minot State teams earn NAIA Scholar Team awards
MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University had four teams from the 2009-10 athletic season earn NAIA Scholar Team awards, the NAIA announced Tuesday.
Leading the way was MSU volleyball with a 3.52 GPA. MSU softball finished the year with a 3.41 grade point average (GPA), Women’s Golf had a 3.27 GPA and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field finished with a 3.08 GPA.
To be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, the program must have a minimum 3.0 PGA (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team GPA must include all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.
Iowa Wesleyan volleyball earned a 3.82 team GPA to win the 2009-10 NAIA Scholar-Team of the Year award. A total of 857 teams – an increase over last year’s total of 837 – received the award. Over 14 percent of the schools receiving the award had a 3.5 or higher grade point average.
